The Yamaha P-45 is the digital piano most teachers point beginners toward. It has 88 fully weighted keys with Yamaha's Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) action — heavier in the low end and lighter up high, just like an acoustic piano — so the technique you build transfers to a real grand.
Its AWM Stereo Sampling captures the sound of a concert grand, and with 64-note polyphony it handles all but the most demanding pieces. Ten built-in voices, a metronome, and a Dual mode for layering sounds cover everything a learner needs.
Compact and light enough to move, it fits in a bedroom or small apartment, and the included sustain pedal and power adapter mean you can start playing the day it arrives.

I teach piano and recommend this to all my adult students. The weighted keys are the real deal for the price.
Quiet enough to practice with headphones at night. Setup took five minutes.
